The local seller guide

Send your car details to local buyers.

Have a used, running, damaged or non-running car? Send the details once. We review your submission, then interested approved buyers can get in touch. It is free to submit, with no obligation to accept an offer.

Local introductions, not an instant valuation

Motli is starting in the Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire area, including Peterborough, Cambridge, Ely, Huntingdon, Wisbech, Stamford, Spalding and Lincoln. These are the areas we are inviting sellers and traders to join; they are not a promise that a buyer is available in every town.

We do not buy your car or calculate a guaranteed price. You submit it once, Motli reviews it, and approved traders decide whether they want an introduction. Up to three buyers can receive your contact details for that car. Offers, inspection, collection and the vehicle payment are agreed directly with the buyer.

This is an early pilot. Interest depends on the car, its condition and the traders taking part. There is no guaranteed offer, sale or response time, and you never have to accept an offer.

What to have ready before you submit

  • Your registration, make, model, year, fuel type, gearbox and current mileage. Vehicle details can be entered manually; automatic registration lookup is not available yet.
  • Clear photos showing the outside, interior and any damage. Keep people, addresses and documents out of the pictures.
  • An honest description of the condition, service history, keys, MOT information and any known faults or warning lights.
  • Your selling timeframe, phone number and email so interested traders can contact you.
  • Your outward postcode area, such as PE1 or PE9. Motli does not need your full postcode or home address to submit a car.

You can review the details before submitting. Read the step-by-step seller journey if you want to see what happens next.

Describe the condition, whether it runs or needs work

Show bodywork damage, explain engine or gearbox faults and include any known write-off history. Say whether the vehicle starts and drives, and show the faults clearly. That helps repair and resale buyers decide whether it suits them before they request an introduction.

This pilot is for repair or resale, not scrap disposal. Do not submit Category A/B vehicles, vehicles declared as waste or vehicles with a Certificate of Destruction.

A non-runner may need transport rather than collection by a driver. Agree those arrangements and any associated costs with the buyer before accepting a deal. Do not assume that listing with Motli includes collection.

After you send your car

Your confirmation shows a reference, and a receipt email includes a private management link. Use it to see the status, correct supported vehicle details, mark the car sold or withdraw it. Keep that link private. Corrections return the listing to review before it is made available again.

The car is not published immediately. Motli reviews it first; approved traders then see photos, vehicle information and an approximate area. Contact details are available only after a trader confirms an introduction, subject to the three-buyer limit.

Questions before selling

Is submitting a car really free?

Yes. Motli does not charge sellers to submit a vehicle. There is no obligation to sell and no card is needed.

Can I compare offers?

Yes. Interested traders contact you directly. Ask what an offer depends on, what an inspection involves and who will arrange collection. Motli does not run a live auction or collect payment for the vehicle.

What if nobody gets in touch?

We cannot guarantee interest during the pilot. You can keep your listing open, withdraw it using your private link or contact hello@motli.co.uk with its reference for help. Do not send your private management link.

Where can I read about Motli?
